Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 29, 2026
FitTraveler is a mobile-first fitness platform for people who train on the road. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the control you have over your data. The short version: you own your data, and your photos and logs are private by default.
1.What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to run the service and give you a useful training experience. Depending on how you use FitTraveler, that includes:
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Account email & name | To create and secure your account, sign you in, and send you transactional email (magic links, receipts, digests you opt into). |
| Workout & training logs | To track your sets, workouts, plans, and progress over time — the core of the product. |
| Equipment photos of gyms | To identify the equipment on hand so workouts can adapt to where you are. Stored privately. |
| Geolocation (optional) | Only when you grant it — used to suggest nearby gyms. We never sell it. See Section 3. |
| Food photos | When you snap a meal, the image is analyzed by AI to estimate calories and macros. See Section 2. |
| Body metrics you choose to log | Weight, body-fat, and similar figures you enter yourself, to power progress tracking and goals. |
| Web-push subscription | If you turn on push notifications, we store the subscription needed to deliver them. |
We do not require you to log body metrics, share photos, or enable location. Those features are yours to switch on.
2.How AI photo analysis works
Two features use AI vision: identifying equipment in gym photos, and estimating calories and macros from food photos. We also use AI to help draft and adapt workout plans.
When you use these features, the relevant image or information is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), for analysis, and the result is returned to your account. Anthropic processes the data to perform the analysis on our behalf. AI estimates are algorithmic and can be inaccurate — treat calorie and macro figures as approximations, not exact measurements.
3.Location handling
Location is opt-in. FitTraveler only accesses your location after your device grants permission, and only to suggest gyms near you. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device or browser settings. We do not sell your location, and we do not track you in the background.
4.Third-party processors
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the service. Each processes data only to provide their piece of the platform:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage, and backend hosting. |
| Netlify | Static web hosting for the app and this site. |
| Resend | Sending transactional and digest email. |
| Anthropic (Claude) | AI analysis of equipment and food photos, and plan drafting. |
| YouTube | Embedded exercise-demonstration videos. |
| Plausible | Privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics. |
Embedded YouTube videos may set their own cookies or collect data under Google's policies once a video is played. We don't control that; review Google's privacy terms for details.
5.Your data is yours — ownership and control
Members own their data and choose who sees it. Your photos and logs are private by default. You decide whether to share with buddies, trainers, or teams, and you can change or revoke that sharing at any time.
- View: your logs, plans, metrics, and photos are visible to you in the app.
- Share: grant specific people (a buddy, trainer, or team) permission to view — nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.
- Delete: you can request deletion of your account and associated data (see Section 8).
6.Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active so the service works as expected. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems, except where we're required to keep certain records to meet legal, security, or accounting obligations. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
7.Cookies, local storage, and analytics
FitTraveler uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember app preferences — these are essential to the app working, not advertising trackers. For usage analytics we use Plausible, which is cookieless and does not build advertising profiles or track you across other sites. We do not run third-party ad networks.
8.Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- Row-Level Security (RLS) on our database so each account can only reach its own data.
- Private storage bucket for equipment and food photos — they are not publicly listable and are served through short-lived signed links.
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between your device and our servers.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data protected and to fix issues quickly.
9.Children
FitTraveler is intended for people 16 and older. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
10.International users
FitTraveler is operated from, and its data is processed and stored in, the United States (and by the processors listed above). If you access the service from outside the U.S., you understand your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our processors operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
11.How to request deletion or exercise your rights
To request deletion of your account and data, or to ask about the personal data we hold, email us at support@fittraveler.com from the address on your account. We'll verify your request and act on it within a reasonable time.
12.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes we'll update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of FitTraveler after an update means you accept the revised policy.
